Dam Swindle's new EP, "Backyard Galaxy," is an ode to house music and the duo's classic sound.

It's only been a few months since Dam Swindle released their acclaimed album "Open," and they're already back on Heist with a new release that takes you straight to the dance floor. After spending much of the last three years writing their album, full of sonic explorations and collaborations, this new EP sees the duo returning to their roots: club-ready house. "Backyard Galaxy" includes four high-energy tracks, produced in their Amsterdam studio and tested throughout the summer at their gigs.

The EP opens with "Feel It Much?", which has all the ingredients of a Swindle classic: warm pads, organic percussion, and plenty of soul. A simple but effective vocal line runs through the track, blending with classic house elements and electronic textures that are layered throughout. The flow is natural and immersive, and it's no surprise that it was one of the highlights of their summer sets.

The EP's title track, "Backyard Galaxy," is an uptempo jam with Latin influences and a touch of old-school techno. The synth chords hit just right, while modulated vocal chops add energy to the build-ups and a subtle swing to an already tight groove. Add a great breakdown and an explosive drum roll, and you have a track capable of igniting any dance floor.

On the B-side, the duo ventures into garage territory with "Rhythm Baby," a track full of shuffle and good vibes. Although the genre is experiencing a new boom, Dam Swindle does not lose its distinctive hallmark: vocal chops, transposed samples, and swing, all perfectly executed. It works equally well below or above 130 bpm, depending on the speed you like to handle.

The closing track is "What You Give," a New York-style house cut reminiscent of Dam Swindle's remix of Cinthie's "Won't U Take Me," also released on Heist, with its lush organs and melancholic keys. It's perhaps the most classic track they've produced in a long time, and you can tell they enjoyed recording it. It's playful, groovy, and infectious. Just the way we like it.

Dam Swindle may have delivered one of 2025's standout crossover albums, but this EP sends a clear message: once a house lover, always a house lover.

As always, enjoy the music... and turn it up!
