WRWTFWW Records is thrilled to announce the official reissue of Daisaku Kume's original soundtrack for the acclaimed 1989 Japanese crime/drama film, "Violent Cop". Available for the first time outside of Japan, the album is presented in a limited edition of 500 copies worldwide with a 45rpm cut bringing full audiophile pleasure, and iconic disc artwork featuring the film's director and star: the one and only "Beat" Takeshi Kitano.

"Violent Cop" marks Kitano's directorial debut, a raw neo-noir in which he himself portrays a renegade detective battling a sadistic crime syndicate, only to uncover widespread internal corruption within the police force. Poetic, minimalist, with an exceptional balance between small, calming moments of beauty and dizzying, violent surprises, the film marked the beginning of a distinguished international career for the multi-talented filmmaker, actor, and comedian, including works such as "Sonatine", "Hana-Bi", and "Battle Royale". The soundtrack's vinyl release provides an excellent opportunity for fans to explore the musical foundations of one of Kitano's earliest creations.

Daisaku Kume, known for his work as a keyboardist in late 70s fusion bands T-Square and Prism, showcases musical versatility on the soundtrack, taking listeners on a sonic journey through a blend of genres including magnificent reinterpretations of Erik Satie, smooth melancholic jazz sometimes reminiscent of "Taxi Driver," ambient-classical, and modern Western atmospheres. It's the perfect setting for Kitano's lonely, tormented urban character. Raw power mixed with timeless elegance.
