D Stone & Milion - Next Morning EP [Crystal Grooves]

D Stone and Milion, from Amsterdam, join forces this May for the sixth release on Cinthie's Collective Cuts sublabel under 803 Crystal Grooves.

Since the inception of 803 Crystal Grooves in 2018, Cinthie has been showcasing her own material on the main label, while the Collective Cuts sublabel, founded in 2019, was created as a platform for friends, collaborators, and producers close to her. The previous five installments have featured material from artists such as UC Beatz, Azuni (also known as Washerman), Anaxander, S3A (Sampling As An Art), and KETTAMA, among others. This time, the label welcomes new talent from the Dutch capital: D Stone and Milion, who in recent years have been releasing their raw house sound on labels such as Hardline, Moscow Records, and Cécille, respectively.

‘The Next Morning’ opens the EP, with classic house elements: smooth string melodies, synth flashes, choppy stabs, and a grooving rhythm section, bouncy bassline, and catchy vocals. It is followed by ‘The Night Before’, which maintains a classic house aesthetic through a winding bassline, hypnotic spoken vocals, saturated percussion, and a mix of organ melodies.

Finally, ‘Floor Call’ closes the release with a darker approach, featuring prominent dense bass, fast drums, sequences of rough stabs, Hammond organ tones, and a vocal loop that gives it an enveloping character.
