Crackazat - In The Sky [Heist]

Crackazat perfectly blends contemporary electronica with dancefloor euphoria on his new record, In The Sky.

Since his first appearance on Heist in 2021, Crackazat has had an impressive run of releases, including Alfa, the Demucha EP in 2022, and his mini-album Senses released last year. These works have proven that Heist is the perfect label to showcase his keyboard virtuosity and wide musical influences. Whether recording his Monday Jams from home for his Bandcamp followers or touring in South Africa, where he has a large fanbase, Crackazat always brings something special with his music. In The Sky tugs at the emotional heartstrings and takes the talented musician from joyful dancefloor cuts to jazz-tinged electronic deep house.

What stands out most on this new record is the ease with which Crackazat handles different styles, seamlessly integrating his voice into the tracks to add depth, meaning, and energy. This is especially evident in the lead track, which revolves around a synopated Alfa-style keyboard loop (fans will know what we mean). With beautiful vocal cuts and warm arpeggiated synths in the background adding texture, the percussion slides with a perfect swing for the song's energy. On Burnin', Crackazat channels his inner raver with '90s-inspired percussion, a honky piano loop, and catchy, quirky vocals. He sprinkles the track with claps and snare hits like it's Christmas, and the big breakdown has a crazy energy that gets all clubbers dancing.

The EP's closer, Dark, shows Crackazat in his more contemplative mode, a vibe he loves to explore in his releases with Heist. The bass is deep, the kick heavy, and the synths are smooth yet powerful. His voice and effects add an extra dimension so beautiful that even Fred Again would be jealous.
