Mikail Tafari, also known as Congo Natty, Conquering Lion, X Project, or Rebel MC, is back.

After releasing his acclaimed 31-track album on digital platforms last October, he now presents a double LP with 9 tracks focusing on faster-tempo tunes.

The tracks were created with his Resistance Band, a collective that brings together immense talent from established artists and new voices from around the world: from Brazil, Japan, and Jamaica, to Deptford and Tottenham. The album crosses genres like Drum & Bass, Reggae, and Jazz, and reveals the roots of Jungle. The Resistance Band includes reggae stalwarts like Courtney Melody and Reggie Stepper; new school British vocal talent like Maverick Sabre, Eva Lazarus, Akala, Klashnekoff, and Logic; and the new generation of jazz with Shabaka Hutchins and Nubya Garcia on saxophone, as well as prominent instrumentalists like Francesca Ter-Berg and Amrit Kaur. Added to this are international artists: Monkey Jhayam from Brazil, Junglists Youths from Japan, and Fikir Amlak from Ethiopia, all with their roots deeply tied to jungle.

Conceived to represent the global diaspora and give a voice to the people in his upcoming album, Congo tells the most important story that jungle music can narrate, documenting the uprising and reflecting on the state of humanity, culture, and the journey traveled in 2023.

With a discography spanning five decades and including seminal and timeless releases like Street Tuff, Tribal Bass, and Wickedest Sound (as Rebel MC), as well as Junglist, Get Ready, Code Red, Under Mi Sensei, Get Wild, Kunta Kinte, and many more, Congo has played a foundational and hugely influential role in one of the most phenomenal and boundary-breaking musical movements the UK has ever known.

Remaining at the forefront of musical rebellion to this day, Mikail understands the power of jungle to unite and break down barriers. Weaving positive affirmations from his spiritual life as a Rastafarian into his songwriting, he has been a constant protagonist of the jungle uprising since the early 90s. Always humble, he seeks to spread more positivity and foster unity, focusing on the new generation that will carry his torch for the next five decades.
