Code 718 (Danny Tenaglia) - Equinox [Strictly Rhythm]

Code 718, also known as iconic New York DJ Danny Tenaglia, dropped this E2-E4 inspired classic way back in 1992. Manuel Göttsching's original track was a New York club anthem at the time and would often feature in the warm-up sets of DJs like Tenaglia, who favoured long deep sessions. It was also a regular feature in the playlists of legendary venues like The Loft and The Garage.

The influence of this track on an entire generation of DJs and producers is immeasurable. Across three sublime mixes, Tenaglia distils the magic of the original into something entirely suited to the New York club scene, without losing the essence of Göttsching. He even manages to incorporate a splash of Grace Jones with her fabulous "I floated on a cloud" vocal sample, masterfully applied.

Equinox takes us on an emotional, uplifting, and warm journey. This is what House should sound like: deeply respecting what came before it, but pushing forward in a fresh, new direction. Another example of just how on the money Strictly Rhythm were in their early days, churning out classic after classic from the label offices, for the benefit of us, the legions of record buyers.

This is a tasty 2017 re-release and remaster, including all three original mixes, unedited, as they appeared on the initial release. Don't sleep on this.
