Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey & His Inter-Reformers Band - Eyi Yato Remixes [SOL Power Sound]

Sol Power Sound returns in a big way with a reissue and remix EP of legendary Nigerian Ju-Ju king, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. The double A-sided EP features ‘Eyi Yato’, a 1981 track that captures the Chief Commander and his band at their funky peak, with a driving drum and bass rhythm, wah-wah guitar, and signature call-and-response backing vocals. Among the remixers are legendary dub producer Mad Professor, disco don Eddie C, and the Sol Power All-Stars.

The Sol Power All-Stars keep things organic with live drums, heavy analog synth bass lines and sequences, as well as additional keys and solos from Daniel Meinecke. Canadian disco don Eddie C opts for a little electro and a little acid style with his analog bass-heavy reversion. As a good dub should, Mad Professor’s take accents the drum and bass rhythm and soaks everything in Mad Professor’s signature delay, reverb, and filtered dub sauce, live and direct from his classic mixing board. Along with an extended edit of the original, the Eyi Yato EP is sure to find a permanent place in DJ record bags across the globe.
