Chaos In The CBD - Midnight In Peckham [Rhythm Section International]

Rhythm Section International proudly presents its 8th release from local boys Chaos in the CBD. Originally from New Zealand but based in Peckham for a few years now (literally around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the London scene, and with their latest set of productions, are set to take this message much further.

Having released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London), and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo's approach to production has matured noticeably over the last year. This is clearly audible in the contained power and poetic subtlety of the four tracks that make up this strong EP, Midnight in Peckham.

Taking its title from the place the boys have come to call home, the record channels a delicate nocturnal energy, as much indebted to the hypnotic invocations of Ron Trent as it is to the misty, suburban atmospheres of Burial. These four classic cuts pay homage to deep house in its purest form: sublime, melancholic, and meditative all at once. Chaos in the CBD have clearly taken inspiration from the midwestern masters of the genre, but without fear of letting their own influences and environment seep into the sound, creating something unmistakably London and, indeed, timeless.
