Following the widely acclaimed release of "Body Shell" in Spring 2025, Carré returns to Tempa with a new EP, "Hibiscus," which includes a collaboration with Los Angeles artist Bbyafricka, highlighting the synergy between West Coast rap and London sound system culture.

Connected by the warmth and groove that define Carré's current musical moment, each of the four tracks on "Hibiscus" works independently, but together they showcase her ability to produce elegant dubstep with a strong melodic sense. From the brightness of "Warm Light," the sharp edge of "X Effect," the deep stepper "Ride It Out," to the minimalist "Hibiscus," which sparkles with the addition of Bbyafricka's sultry vocals, the EP is a concise statement of Carré's sonic evolution.

Regarding the collaboration, Carré comments: "I was already a fan of Bbyafricka's sound, style, and tone—tracks like 'Baton Rouge' and 'Dumbo' really caught my attention—and I could perfectly envision how her voice would fit with my production. The fact that she's from Los Angeles made the connection feel even more natural. When I reached out to her, she was immediately on board and came back with something I truly loved. She perfectly captured the energy of the track, and I think together we created something authentic, even better than I had imagined."

For Bbyafricka, working on "Hibiscus" was a moment of overcoming a creative block: "this song was my way out of that moment, during a weekend in Joshua Tree, sitting outside watching the landscape and the solar panels. I think you can imagine what my view was when you listen to the track," she explains.

Carré's return to Tempa is more than welcome, confirming the great moment she is experiencing as a producer and marking another outstanding chapter in her growing catalog. In the last three years, Carré has quickly established herself as a key figure within the new wave of artists taking classic school dubstep into new territories and audiences, expanding on the foundations laid by names like Skream, Benga, and Loefah.
