Tetsu Shibuya, better known simply as Tetsu or BRISA, is a Japanese producer and DJ known for his work on the iconic Japanese label Jazzy Sport, the Nite Grooves sub-label of King Street, and his own BRISA Music. The EP is spearheaded by the lead track ‘Stir’, in collaboration with Turbojazz. BRISA delivers a classic deep house piece built on layers of glistening stab sequences and loose organic percussion. Detroit’s beloved Jon Dixon lends his touch to ‘Stir’ next, encapsulating the soul of his hometown by reforming snippets of the original composition. The original track ‘Reverie’ opens the B-side, setting a broken beat rhythm, low-pitched vocal hooks and elongated bass grooves for a vibe closer to bruk. Byron The Aquarius then extracts the essence of ‘Reverie’ and transforms it into a bumpy house filled with subtle nuances. Finally, the third original track, ‘Flux’, closes out the release, diving deeper into funk-infused realms with a playful bass groove and drums with plenty of swing.
