The unstoppable drum & bass producer Break returns to Critical Music with a festival-ready vocal anthem featuring SOLAH, accompanied by a strictly underground minimal roller.

Critical Music is proud to welcome this drum & bass heavyweight back for a devastating double-header, featuring powerhouse vocals from label regular, SOLAH.

Out on August 15th, this release showcases two very distinct moods within D&B: on the one hand, the soaring, festival-ready euphoria of ‘Raise Your Hands’, and on the other, the stripped-back, pure minimalism of ‘Short Stuff’.

Since his last Critical Music release in 2012, Break has built a reputation as one of drum & bass’s most prolific and technically precise producers, with releases on iconic and scene-defining labels such as Metalheadz, Shogun Audio, and of course, his own Symmetry Recordings.

The Bristol-based producer is renowned for his meticulous sound design and for his ability to inject soul and groove into both minimal rollers and hard-hitting dancefloor weapons, making him a perfect addition to Critical Music’s catalog.

SOLAH represents the new generation of drum & bass vocalists, initially solidifying herself as a Critical mainstay with her debut ‘Made Of Light’ in 2017. Since then, the British singer has showcased her lyrical prowess by collaborating with significant D&B artists such as DJ Marky, BCee, Monrroe, SpectraSoul, Halogenix, Flava D, and Pola & Bryson.

‘Raise Your Hands’ is a huge vocal D&B track destined not only to smash dancefloors but also to receive radio play and dominate festival main stages all summer long. SOLAH’s emotive vocals take Break’s signature soulful yet brutal production to new heights, creating a track that connects both through emotional intensity and raw club energy.

On the flip side, ‘Short Stuff’ offers something entirely different. Stripped-back, tense, and straight from the cutting edge, this raw underground anthem showcases Break’s technical prowess and sounds unmistakably Critical. A masterclass in minimalism that pays homage to the true heads and those long nights in low-ceilinged basements that are an essential part of the label’s identity.

For over two decades, Critical Music has established itself as a central force within the drum & bass movement, consistently discovering and supporting groundbreaking talent while maintaining an unwavering commitment to sonic excellence. This release further reaffirms the label’s reputation as a vital platform for boundary-pushing electronic music.
