Following hot on the heels of recent AUS releases from Breach, Huxley & Bwana, they prepare their next offering from Irish duo and long term label affiliates, Bicep. Suitably timed for the festival months, their ‘Just’ EP follows a string of self-released titles including collaborations with Ebony and Midland, and is a passionate set of broken beats, shimmering synth lines and soaring piano chords. The title track kicks things off and permeates a combination of broken kick and snare with a soulful sequence and searing synth strings. A vocal refrain drifts in and out throughout a translucent breakdown before () gently intones over a building piano motif. The tension is cleverly balanced, never quite overflowing and keeping the listener hooked before () introduces a tough, gritty kick drum beneath soft flashes of acid and rich, enveloping pads.
