Ataxia return to Planet E with two club-honed cuts that capture their immersive, characterful approach to the authentic roots of Detroit electronic music culture. Marking the duo’s return to the label following 2020’s Oblivion EP and their remix of Carl Craig’s Psyche alias “From Beyond,” released in 2023, both tracks demonstrate an energy born from a deep understanding of house and techno, further enriched by their punk background and DIY spirit.

Immediately establishing a deep and hypnotic groove, “The Whistles” unfolds as a collage of unruly samples that traverse the club, the street, and the characters inhabiting both worlds. Playfully hinting at the tension between Detroit partygoers and those who would rather the music be turned down, the track rolls forward as a dance floor juggernaut, showcasing Ataxia unleashing some of their most psychedelic studio maneuvers.

Meanwhile, “Hocus On Pocus” is a compact, hard-hitting journey through analogue effects and elastic basslines, adding layers of pressure and unexpected sonic twists. The result is a genuinely eccentric floor-filler, in line with Planet E’s wildest moments: designed for the dance floor, but with personality to spare.
