Los Angeles trio ASHRR – aka lead vocalist Steven Davis and producers, musicians, and vocalists Josh Charles and Ethan Allen – return with a brilliant new album for Ralph Lawson’s excellent 20/20 Vision Recordings label, on which they follow the old mantra of “art for art’s sake.” This impeccably fuses electronic soul, post-punk, space disco, and indie-dance, and is packed with melancholic melodies, hazy late summer vibes, and late-night dancing. The vocals bring an indie feel to delights such as ‘Please Don’t Stop The Rain’, while ‘What’s Been Turning You On’ offers a laid-back, languid groove for quiet sessions.
