ANNĒ & Sera J - Symbiosis [Mutual Rytm]

The title of this release comes from the Greek word "Symbiosis", meaning to live closely together over a significant period and can refer to a mutually beneficial interaction between individuals. And that is precisely what can be said about ANNE and Sera J, who have grown through life as a couple and, more recently, as musical partners. This shared EP is their first joint release, and one that presents the story of their deepest feelings, following their full debut on the label after their contributions to the 'Federation Of Rytm II' compilation last March.

ANNE has had a busy few years making her mark with powerful techno on labels like Soma, Hardgroove, and Life In Patterns, while Sera J is equally respected for his tracks on labels like Out Of Place, DifferentSound, and more.

ANNE handles the A-side, first with the incendiary diva vocals and hard-hitting techno drums of 'Heal My Soul' and then with the more physical and powerful drum programming of 'Turn Back Time'. It's a big, metallic cut with rumbling bass and elegant synths that break away from the groove, while her final track, 'Zephyrus', has plenty of infectious bounce and haunting pads to keep dancers on their toes.

On the B-side, Sera J begins with the electrifying synth bursts and galloping techno power of 'Blue Dancers', followed by 'Common People', where twisted leads and heavy drums intertwine with alien sound effects and brilliant hits. To close, 'Delusion' is a psychedelic cut with wandering leads that bring a lot of cosmic energy to the relentless beats.
