Anané Electrifies with New Take on Classic Dance Floor Anthem “Get On The Funk Train”
Recognized globally as one of New York City’s most vibrant, charismatic, and talented producers and DJs, Anané is uniquely positioned to breathe new life into the 1977 #1 disco hit “Get On The Funk Train,” originally released by Munich Machine and produced by the renowned Giorgio Moroder.
In addition to being a singer, Anané is also a DJ with residencies in New York, Ibiza, and Naples. She knows how to move the dance floor and how to elevate the mood of a room, from setting the initial vibe to getting the crowd into the groove, ultimately taking the party to the highest level. Her strong and distinctive character can be traced to her experiences growing up in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde on the island of Santiago, during a time of strong political upheaval, as well as her many years of striving to make her way in the ever-competitive music industry. Taking on a classic and turning it into something entirely her own is no easy feat, but that is precisely what Anané has achieved with this fresh and vibrant version of “Get On The Funk Train.”
In addition to her talent as an artist, Anané has also proven to be a successful record label owner. Her Nulu and Nulu Electric labels have for years been the source of some of the hottest and most coveted anthems in the Afro House genre, currently booming among DJs worldwide. Her Nulu Movement product line represents the cutting-edge and elegant aesthetic of her residency at the Le Bain club at the Standard Hotel in New York, with designs created by Anané herself.
As befits an artist so respected and admired in the community, the team of producers and remixers behind this project includes some of the industry's most legendary and successful figures. The recording was originally produced by Grammy-winning artist and producer Louie Vega, considered one of the best in the world and recognized for his success in multiple genres such as House, Freestyle, R&B, and, more recently, for his work in revitalizing the great genre of disco. The production features live strings recorded and arranged by two key figures in New York's musical history: Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess, plus electric guitar by Carlos Alomar, former musical director for David Bowie. The remixes were done by Todd Terry, one of New York City's pioneering producers who helped shape house as we know it, and by the new production team formed by Michael Gray and Mark Knight, two of England's most respected and successful DJs and producers. This duo has developed a unique and groove-centric style that has DJs around the world eagerly awaiting each new production.
