Amy Dabbs & Athlete Whippet - Into You [Aus Music]

Amy Dabbs and Athlete Whippet deliver a perfectly crafted journey through house music with 'Into You' on Aus Music.

The duo’s differing yet entirely complementary musical backgrounds – Amy Dabbs bringing her extensive experience as a DJ and electronic music producer, and Athlete Whippet with his background as an instrumentalist and live band musician – have created a winning combination on the ‘Into You’ EP. The result is a suite of intricately composed and highly musical tracks, produced to perfection for the dance floor.

After first meeting at Cinthie’s Elevate shop in early 2021, during the launch party for her DJ Kicks, which featured one of Dabbs’ earlier tracks, Amy Dabbs and Athlete Whippet kept in touch, culminating in a decision to begin working together in the studio in their shared hometown of Berlin.

Amy Dabbs has released a number of acclaimed vinyl since her 2020 debut, including her latest and much-lauded EP on Shall Not Fade, as well as collaborating with Coco Bryce, launching her own Dabbs Traxx label last year and regularly featuring on BBC Radio1 Dance.

Athlete Whippet, fronted by Robin Braum, has delivered a multitude of well-respected releases on labels such as Toy Tonics, Rhythm Section, and Tartelet, which have garnered strong support from the likes of Pete Tong, Jamz Supernova, and Tom Ravenscroft, to name but a few.

Joining forces for the first time here, Amy Dabbs and Robin Braum deliver an energetic trio of tracks for Will Saul’s Aus Music, covering a variety of moods across the versatile EP. Kicking off the A-side is ‘Deep In Your Love’, featuring swirling pads and emotive strings that entwine around a spine-tingling vocal refrain, making for a truly soulful opening. On A2, ‘Into You’ continues the emotional journey with lively percussion, deep bass lines, and sultry vocal samples layered with exquisite analogue chords played on the Juno 106. On the flip, ‘Milkshake’ rounds out the session with a glorious blend of pumping piano riffs and deep acid grooves. This track is a sure-fire summer hit, set to ignite the airwaves and the dance floor alike.
