Last Year at Marinbad once again returns to the limelight with a generous sonic proposal from the multifaceted Alejandro Mosso, providing all the emotional enrichment you could desire from an electronic music record.

Mosso, originally from Argentina and currently based in Berlin, has released a wealth of records since 2002 that have shown over time the depth and emotional dexterity of his sound. His style lies at the intersection of house, minimal, tribal, and experimental music, with a sharp focus on creating immersive and highly precise soundscapes. This curiosity stems from his compositional and technical abilities, backed by a degree in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts, which underscores his fascination with the aesthetics and feel of what can be heard and experienced in music. His live performances are the perfect reflection of his approach and have been enthusiastically received worldwide, regardless of the venue. Mosso's discography is filled with releases on some of the best labels, such as Hivern Discs, Third Ear, LumieresLaNuit, and his own label Mosso, offering a journey through the vast cosmos of electronic music.

Esserts represents the latest chapter in his journey, featuring four tracks loaded with thrilling melodies, vibrant rhythms, and touches of clear skies. The main track kicks off with a piano chord hook so warm it could melt ice in seconds, as the percussion grows and evolves with each passing bar. Additional chord lines emerge to add dynamism and flavor, peaking emotionally around the middle of the piece; the way it unfolds and envelops the ears is simply magical.

Bruson follows, offering a rhythmic and satisfying bounce, with an added bassline that intensifies the groove. The melodic notes incorporated are a delight, subtle in their presentation but dynamic in their development, while a guitar lick adds a truly euphoric moment.

On the B-side, Sosneado opens with a melodic line and rhythm that work in perfect sync to get things going. The enveloping notes have a hypnotic nature, allowing the groove to stick with the listener, while vocal-tinged keys enhance the emotion of the piece. To close, Laurence Guy presents his interpretation of the previous track, delivering a remix full of surprises. The beat guides to a breakdown that reduces intensity before resurfacing with a melodic explosion, including a saxophone line and brilliant keys that create a true auditory feast. As the album's closer, it perfectly captures the project's vibe, leaving a sweet lingering memory.

Alejandro Mosso has always set the right tones in his music, with an ability to alternate between danceable and forceful pieces and softer, more reflective compositions. Esserts is no exception, offering a captivating experience from start to finish. As for dance music exercises, one could hardly ask for better.
