Adam Beyer & Eli Brown - Overdose of Bass [Drumcode]

This first collaborative release between Adam Beyer and Eli Brown has been intensely anticipated by fans who have closely followed their growing friendship, excitement that increased after their first official B2B at Brunch Electronik in Lisbon in September. Now comes the EP Overdose of Bass, a powerful techno work with two energetic tracks enriched with diverse elements, released on Beyer's label, Drumcode.

It also marks Eli Brown's long-awaited return to the label after his massive collaboration last January with Layton Giordani and OFFAIAH on "When I Push," which followed his 2022 EP "Deep Down." The EP Overdose of Bass combines recent developments and the past influences of both techno giants.

Overdose of Bass: The title track features agitated snares and a breakbeat-tinged rhythm that gives way to a multi-layered processed spoken vocal, generating a riff that's half sensual, half robotic – “there it goes / overdose / of bass” – accompanied by Doppler-like sirens that build a spatial and mysterious call-and-response atmosphere. Hypnotic, unsettling, and sharp.

Living In The Moment: an urgent techno rhythm, a Moroder-esque synth bass, and a recurring riff that acts as an increasingly sharp and desperate signal, contrast with an ethereal, trembling, and sweet female voice, which is reinforced by a melodic construction in a large central breakdown.
