It is often overlooked that Igarashi is much more than a standard-bearer for the hypnotic and raw techno for which he became known. He is also a very talented and versatile musician, with a deep understanding of sound design and its effects. These skills are fully displayed in his 2023 album, Agartha, a soundtrack for a fictional film about the mythical underworld of the planet Mars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was almost inevitable to bridge this epic deep-listening album and Igarashi's techno side by having him remix himself. As expected, the Agartha Sorcery Acid Mix turns out to be a masterclass in meticulously designed psychedelic techno. Although slightly slower in BPM than Igarashi's usual style, it is just as hypnotic. The Floating Against Time Shimmering Mix shows another fascinating facet of Wata's sound spectrum. We could call it: psychedelic deep house.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKOMPAKT's own Michael Mayer couldn't resist transforming the almost cinematic, Godzilla soundtrack-worthy Ceremony Of The Dead into a positively hysterical minimalist disco operetta. And then there's the Fusion Mix of Abyss II x Darkness by Philipp Stoffel, an emerging DJ and producer from Cologne, from whom a namesake label for his AKTE parties will soon emerge.
