When Fatback Band hit the charts in the US and UK in 1975 with their infectious hit “(Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop”, the Japanese label Victor released the first Japan-produced disco song the following year: “Sexy Bus Stop”, under the enigmatic name Dr. Dragon \u0026amp; Oriental Express – a pseudonym of successful Japanese pop songwriter Kyohei Tsutsumi. “Sexy Bus Stop” became an immediate hit in the country and, taking this opportunity, several Japanese record companies began releasing disco music.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom 1976 through the early eighties, music was frequently recorded by highly-skilled studio musicians, rather than by computer input, providing a really solid sound for the dance floor. Disco music was also expanding into TV series, commercials and anime. From Godiego’s huge hit “The Birth Of The Odyssey - Monkey Magic” to the obscure (and excellent!) song “Disco Great Tokyo” by Pink Parachute, this selection explores some of the best Disco and Boogie tunes released by the legendary Nippon Columbia label in the late seventies and early eighties.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAre you ready?
