Most tracks were taken from extremely obscure 7” singles. The only names some might recognize are probably Mat Mathews and Lu Elliott. However, both original 45s are quite hard to find today, especially in playable conditions.

Side B is dedicated to deep funk this time. Hipper Snapper is an outstanding example of this genre. Some say their groove reminds of Charles Wright's Express Yourself. We agree! The Villagers are responsible for the first "aha" moment. Their (previously unreleased!) version of Funky Broadway would have surprised even Dyke & The Blazers. Representing Germany on this volume: The Rippers, also called the “Offenburg Beatles”. Back in the US, John Fogerty probably never heard this rocking school-funk version of Proud Mary. Drum breaks galore!

Side C starts with another German contribution. Saxophonist Gus Brendel delivers first-class mod-jazz, as do The Hornets. Definitely a sure shot for any dance floor! Time for the second "aha" moment. Many bands have tried their own version of Nat Adderley's jazz classic, including vibraphonist Bret Breitinger. The perfect choice to close this side is Downtown Trio's smooth and groovy version of Gershwin's Summertime.

Side D is reserved for genuine 70s funk. Break It Loose by ONYX has become a certified Rare Groove classic. Here you can enjoy it for the first time with the band's blessing. Glenn Doughty and his 70s Baltimore Colts Shake and Bake Band are the first music group consisting of former NFL All-Pro players Tramp Records has teamed up with in its history. Look out, Shake and Bake will also be reissued on a good old 45 RPM single!

Those who have followed the research work of the people behind the label for the last 21 years know that the Movements series can easily be considered Tramp's flagship compilation. So, after you have listened to the entire selection of this new volume, we sincerely hope that we have achieved our goal of surprising, delighting and enlightening everyone once again!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0583/1239/2867/files/image_72812b00-f286-4a21-bf37-95fed4706282.jpg?v=1755904851
