A city with a rich heritage of electronic music born from a deep affinity with authentic underground dance culture. Institutions such as Lux Fragil have championed the Lisbon sound since its formative years in the late 90s. Their resident DJs, with established careers, are now finally getting the international recognition they deserve, and in turn, helping to spread appreciation for the city's sound. Some of them are featured in City To City: Lisbon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor this second instalment, we present six original tracks by seven artists currently making waves in Lisbon.\u003cbr\u003eWe open with Lisbon native, label owner and figure firmly associated with the city for over 20 years, Kaspar. With releases on renowned labels such as Clone, 4Lux, Stripped \u0026amp; Chewed, plus his output on his own Percebes Música imprint, we're proud to have Kaspar headline this compilation. Mereces offers a raw, hypnotic groove, with clipped vocals and synth lines creating an analogue, spontaneous feel that Kaspar is well known for.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNext up, we pick up the pace with DJ Honesty and his peak time floor filler, Jazz Mutant. A chunky kick drum, choppy bassline, intricate percussion, and a perfectly placed vocal at the end of the first break, set the foundation for dance floor delight. Born in Germany, and resident in Lisbon for years, DJ Honesty has released on labels including Sonar Kollektiv, Compost, and Cabinet, and is a very welcome addition to this impressive line up.\u003cbr\u003eClosing off the A-side we have another Lisbon native, Lux regular, and record label and shop owner: Jorge Caiado. Jorge is a key name at many parties in the city and nowadays is flying the flag for Lisbon deep house internationally. With gigs taking him from Chicago and Berlin to Beijing and Toronto, Jorge pushes his distinctive deep minimal sound in his sets and on his releases for Carpets \u0026amp; Snares, Groovement, and Chez Damier's sub-label, Inner-Balance. For this compilation, he delivers Good Days, a beautifully crafted track with layers of textures, ethereal synths, chopped soul vocals, and melodic lines that truly feed the soul. Pure deepness!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFlipping the vinyl over, we open with UK-born, Lisbon-based Megatronic. With recent releases on labels such as Razor-N-Tape, Feedasoul, and The Remedy Project, Megatronic has established herself as a global artist. A tireless creative force, she brings her infectious energy to the record with Casey Screams, a vibrant vocal house track with Bruk undertones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNext up is Moreno Ácido, a local figure deeply rooted in the city's music culture, with his track Until The Break of Dawn. Mario is diverse in his style, with productions ranging from harder, jackin' tracks such as 100 Controls (from his Trash\/Treasure EP on Call To Action) to deep and intricate late-night atmospherics, like this very track.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd closing this special edition, we have two names synonymous with the Lisbon underground sound and, more specifically, the mythical Lux Frágil club: Yen Sung and Photonz. The duo has already collaborated on projects such as Angel Rights on their own label Alphabet Street Music, and now they deliver Changes, a direct and no-nonsense banger. Rolling bassline, aggressive stabs, and a powerful kick drum: a track you could perfectly hear at Lux any given weekend.
