After Alfredo’s passing in December 2024, the project became definitive; with artists coming together to honor his vision and his memory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBefore becoming a global clubbing epicenter, Ibiza represented freedom: a place where sunrises merged with sunsets and music became a way of life. In the 1950s and 1960s, the island attracted artists, hippies, and free spirits looking for escape and creative freedom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1976, Alfredo Fiorito, fleeing political repression in Argentina, arrived in Ibiza and decided to stay. A former music journalist, he soon began DJing at Amnesia, a farmhouse transformed into a club, where time bent and boundaries dissolved. With eclectic and genre-defying sessions, Alfredo mixed reggae, flamenco, soul, rock, and the early sounds of house, generating a hypnotic energy that captivated an entire generation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBritish DJs such as Trevor Fung, Paul Oakenfold, and Danny Rampling brought that “Balearic Beat” back home. But Balearic wasn't a style, it was a mindset. As DJ Leo Mas said, it was “a state of mind,” where rhythm, spirit, and psychedelia merged.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOther clubs like KU, Es Paradis, Pacha, and Lola's amplified the movement. Visual artists like Yves Uro gave it a striking visual identity, and DJs like César de Melero, DJ Pippi, and Jon Sa Trinxa led the sound into a new era. José Padilla's sunset sessions at Café del Mar gave rise to chill-out music, understood as breathing, not just rhythm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut the nineties brought changes. Laws requiring roofs on clubs transformed the magic of the open air. Commercialization came later: freedom became a luxury and many pioneers left.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEven so, the Balearic spirit lives on, raw and untamed.
