Though life took them down different paths for a time, they recently dusted off their synths and drum machines to get back in the studio and produce incredible new music, influenced by that classic British techno sound which played such a pivotal role in the development of dance music culture globally. With recent releases on Frame Of Mind, Acquit and Telomere Plastic, the duo are clearly on a roll, proudly wearing their city’s heritage on their sleeves and delivering what can only be described as honest, heartfelt machine music, made with love and soul.

From the opening bars of the lead track Dawn Till Dusk we’re transported to another place that feels comfortably familiar, yet organic, fluid and loose in a way that tugs at the emotions. Light years away from paint-by-numbers tech house, this is pure home studio exploration, two producers digging deep into hardware machines to create a sound to completely lose yourself in. Lonely Promontory goes even deeper with evolving pads, tense electro beats and ecstatic melodic lines that hint at optimism and recall the beloved sounds of B12, Redcell and Likemind. Flipping over sees Stellar Engine, loading a little more weight into the beats and bass without losing its floating quality, again highlighting the hardware jam-based workflow Synaptic Voyager employ in their studio. Once Exposed takes us back to those heady days of the early 90s when techno, house and ambient electronica would combine to create an intense blend of deep atmospheres and driving rhythms that worked equally on the dance floor and in the car stereo.

Closing the EP we find Cognitive Network, which goes for a more direct four-to-the-floor techno groove and a crushing bassline to get lost in. These recordings were delivered to the label in long-form unedited arrangements (some tracks clocking in at over 15 minutes!), and carefully edited down to the versions heard on this release by Jimpster.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0583/1239/2867/files/image_e4f85a2f-6b05-4e1f-b8bd-b31f646720b1.jpg?v=1770950816
