It’s the first official single from Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards’ and Joel Martin’s critically acclaimed project under the Quiet Village name in seventeen years!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKicking off as a ‘6\/8 intense time signature urban jazz odyssey’, ‘Reunion’ is a stunning piece of modern, high-tech jazz that takes influences from Pat Metheny, Timeline, Innerzone Orchestra and Clyde Stubbelfield’s drumming.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhereas previous Quiet Village material was built from a myriad of samples pulled from Edwards’ and Martin’s notorious crate-digging collection, ‘Reunion’ and its continuations are created from a tight-knit group of session musicians, including Jon Hester and Thomas Gandey, adding further depth and feel to the QV sound. Already a firm favourite of Gilles Peterson and Luke Una, the latter snippeted the release through his inimitable Instagram presence describing it as ‘something so f*cking beautiful. Tony Allen, Sun Ra meets Carl Craig, Underground Resistance, house, techno, funk, all in one’.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e‘Reunion’ is the first single on The Quiet Village, Quiet Village’s new label. Despite continuing to produce new music and a raft of remixes, most recently for Running Back and Isle of Jura, the long-time friends and collaborators have been unable to release music under their Quiet Village name since their ‘Silent Movie’ LP in 2008.
