His debut on Dan Curtin’s Metamorphic label was inspired by the sounds of Detroit techno and Chicago house. But Geist also had a great fascination for British imports from labels like Warp, B12, and ART. His goal was to combine these influences into the first release on his new label, Environ.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith a remix by The Connection Machine, whose distinctive \"Bitflower\" had been released the previous year on Carl Craig's Planet E label, the \"Premise EP\" (1995) was recorded in Ohio and mastered in Detroit by the legendary Ron Murphy.
