Forever remembered as “The Godfather of House” for his unparalleled contribution to house music as we know it today; what started as an underground movement in Chicago gained international recognition thanks to Frankie. His records brought him global acclaim, allowing him to work with some of the biggest figures in the world, including Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFive years ago, Frankie passed away in Chicago on March 31, 2014, leaving behind one of house music’s greatest legacies, spanning almost four decades. Now, he is commemorated by his long-time writing and production partner, Eric Kupper. Eric, also an experienced DJ, producer, and songwriter, has worked on more than 116 Billboard Dance number 1 hits and played a key role in many of Frankie’s productions. After collaborating for many years, they established Director’s Cut in 2011 and began producing original releases and remixes based on the classic Def Mix sound, sharing equal credits on their creations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTogether, they re-produced and reinterpreted classic tracks for modern dancefloors, with reworks of songs by Marshall Jefferson, Ashford \u0026amp; Simpson, Artful \u0026amp; Ridney, and The Sunburst Band, as well as Frankie Knuckles originals. These releases have now been compiled by Eric into a special album titled The Director’s Cut Collection on SoSure Music. It includes Director’s Cut reworks of Frankie classics like Your Love and Take You There with Jamie Principle, along with Frankie’s first number 1 single, The Whistle Song, on which Eric shares songwriting credits.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAmong a multitude of classic reworks, a previously unreleased version of Ashford \u0026amp; Simpson's Bourgie Bourgie and a massive Director’s Cut Retro Signature mix of Marshall Jefferson ft.
