The first thing that comes to mind is a fusion between Shuggie Otis and Grotto\/Ofege.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe band comprised a group of teenage musicians who used to hang out at the Federal Palace Hotel on swanky Victoria Island, listening to the resident band, led by the incomparable Yom Yem, with Papa Doe and Gboyega Adelaja on keyboards. Frank, who had some experience in Lagos recording studios, approached George Veira (vocals, guitar) and the Nadi brothers (Clifford and Gerrard) with the idea of making a record. Odion Iruoje had already had great success with Ofege, and Frank knew he might be open to producing the band.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“It all happened very quickly, as George had songs already written or half-finished. We started rehearsing and playing some gigs at the Surulere Night Club, which at the time was run by Tee Mac. Odion heard the material and needed no further convincing. Then we went into the studio to record the vocals, drums, and guitars. The keyboards and additional production were done in London.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“My routine back then was to finish records in London, at Abbey Road studios. It was the best way to achieve the sound I was looking for, and it allowed me to work with London-based musicians, which gave it a special touch. I liked to record the rhythm tracks and vocals in our Wharf Road studio in Lagos.
