The onstage connection between the three was so immediate and solid that, on a day off in Brooklyn, DePlume decided to capture that energy, recording this collection of instrumental pieces shaped by the experience of playing, sharing, and improvising around the music of “A Blade” for audiences across the United States.

DePlume says:
“Meeting you at the gigs, I felt that you felt voiceless on this ethical issue that also mirrors what we are seeing today in the form of ICE. That experience with you imprinted on me, like graffiti or a poster on a wall. It is my job to relay your voice, and that is this record. And also performing. That urgency drove me to record it then. And now here we are. As we said, this world is waking up to reality that it was already living.”

“Dear Children” functions as an epilogue to “A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole” and as a complementary piece alongside his October 2024 EP “Cremisan: Prologue to A Blade.”

As with almost everything DePlume has released in recent years, the connection of these works to Palestine is deep. The “Cremisan” EP was recorded in Palestine. “Dear Children” incorporates field recordings and samples of children playing and everyday life in the West Bank, and its cover features wheat-pasted posters of a drawing made by a 13-year-old child from Gaza (used with permission). The inscription on the cover reads, in Arabic: “Dedicated to the mother of the martyr/witness Obaida Ahmed al-Qiram. May he rest in peace. From your student, the artist Hasan Jawad Abudayyeh.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0583/1239/2867/files/image_c2cf7f32-c913-48da-9f46-4a9986a08892.jpg?v=1782347979
https://tenampa.mx/en/products/alabaster-deplume-dear-children-of-our-children-i-knew-epilogue-lp-international-anthem
